More Information

The Hives are among Sweden’s best-known and most influential garage rock bands. Since the 1990s, they have been known for their fast-paced guitar riffs, uncompromising energy, and a distinctive black-and-white stage aesthetic. Led by singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, the band has earned a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts on the international rock scene. Songs like “Hate to Say I Told You So,” “Tick Tick Boom,” and “Walk Idiot Walk” have long since become modern garage rock classics.

From Sweden to the international rock stage

The Hives were founded in 1993 in Fagersta, Sweden. In addition to frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, the classic lineup includes guitarists Nicholaus Arson and Vigilante Carlstroem, among others. From the very beginning, the band focused on short, fast rock songs and a striking visual identity.

Their international breakthrough came in the early 2000s. The album “Veni Vidi Vicious” and the single “Hate to Say I Told You So,” in particular, brought The Hives worldwide fame. The band thus became an important part of the garage rock revival of that time.

The Hives' Greatest Songs and Albums

Their international success was followed by albums such as “Tyrannosaurus Hives,” “The Black and White Album,” and “Lex Hives.” Songs like “Main Offender,” “Walk Idiot Walk,” “Tick Tick Boom,” and “Go Right Ahead” showcase the Swedish band’s signature sound: direct, loud, and instantly recognizable.

In 2023, The Hives returned with “The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons” after a long hiatus from releasing albums. With tracks like “Bogus Operandi,” “Rigor Mortis Radio,” and “Countdown to Shutdown,” the band proved that their high-energy garage rock still holds up decades after their formation.

The Hives Live – Nonstop Rock ’n’ Roll

A The Hives concert thrives above all on the musicians’ extraordinary stage presence. Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist commands the audience, leaps across the stage, and transforms even large venues into a seething rock club in no time at all.

Add to that their famous black-and-white stage outfits and a performance that blends humor, self-confidence, and rock ’n’ roll. That’s precisely why The Hives enjoy an outstanding reputation worldwide as a live band.

The Hives at the TonHalle München

The Hives have also performed live at the TonHalle München in the Werksviertel-Mitte. On September 29, 2023, the Swedish rock band played there as part of their “The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons” tour. The setlist included new songs like “Bogus Operandi,” “Rigor Mortis Radio,” and “Countdown to Shutdown,” as well as classics such as “Main Offender,” “Walk Idiot Walk,” “Hate to Say I Told You So,” and “Tick Tick Boom.” With their usual explosive performance, The Hives transformed the TonHalle München into an energetic garage rock club and impressively demonstrated why their concerts have enjoyed a legendary reputation for decades.
